Currently serving as an associate professor in the department of radiation oncology at Virginia Commonwealth University in Richmond, Virginia, Dr. Laurie Cuttino conducts research in accelerated partial breast irradiation. As a professional in the field of radiation oncology, Dr. Laurie Cuttino is also a current member of the American Society for Therapeutic Radiology and Oncology (ASTRO).

Founded in 1958, the American Society for Therapeutic Radiology and Oncology numbers over 10,000 members around the world who are current health care professionals in the fields of radiology and oncology. The society is dedicated to promoting the work of these fields as well as providing training and educational resources to members to improve their skills and knowledge.

ASTRO provides many resources for members, such as the ASTRO Academy, which was created to provide members with online courses, webinars, and information on upcoming events related to the society. The Academy also provides members with certification materials and schedules, along with a help center for questions regarding its activities.
